The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) marked an important milestone in the academic journey of its students with the conduct of a pinning ceremony. The ceremony pinned students from the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) majors in Home Economics (HE), Information Communication Technology (ICT), Industrial Arts (IA), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), and Bachelor of Food Processing and Technology (BFPT) on January 19, 2025, at the Asenso Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center, Capitol, Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental (AMOSAC). The event highlighted the theme “Developing Skills, Building Careers: Internship as a Pathway to Excellence,” promoting the important role of internship training in preparing students for the professional world.

Before the pinning rites, the ceremony was solemnly blessed with a Eucharistic Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Danilo B. Rudinas at the Holy Rosary Parish, Oroquieta City. Administrators and faculty members were also in attendance, expressing their gratitude for a successful academic journey that has shaped competent, values-driven professionals in the province of Misamis Occidental, ready to take on professional challenges.

At the pinning ceremony, the guest speaker, Engr. Kenneth Asuncion, the Provincial Officer of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region X – Misamis Occidental, reminded everyone of the responsibilities, professionalism, and ethical standards expected of them as interns in their respective partner agencies. Engr. Asuncion, as an alumnus of USTP CDO, emphasized that the application of the learned theories in the classroom reflects not only the students’ capabilities but also the integrity and excellence of the institution they represent.

The event reaffirmed the USTP Oroquieta’s commitment to bringing the world of work by developing skilled, competent, and career-ready graduates. The ceremony concluded with optimism and renewed purpose, marking the beginning of a new chapter where students take their first steps from classroom learning to professional practice.
