The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) participated in the Orientation Conference with stakeholders on the Court-Annexed Program Phase 1, also known as the Province of Misamis Occidental Mediation Program Phase 1, held last February 19, 2026, at Agricio Farm and Resort, Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental. The event gathered representatives from various sectors across Misamis Occidental to strengthen collaboration and promote alternative dispute resolution mechanisms within the province. The orientation was organized by the Philippine Mediation Center under the Office of the Court Management Office, aiming to provide stakeholders with an overview of the Court-Annexed Mediation (CAM) framework and its implementation strategies.
In the conference, Ms. Maria Liberty B. Doncillo, the Head of Research, Innovation & Extension Section, represented USTP Oroquieta. Discussions highlighted the salient features of the Guidelines on Mediation, emphasizing procedures, scope, and best practices in the effective conduct of Court-Annexed Mediation (CAM). The conference also clarified the respective roles and responsibilities of the court administrator, judges, and court personnel in ensuring the smooth and efficient implementation of mediation processes.
For USTP Oroquieta, participation in the orientation brings broad institutional benefits across all its academic programs. The insights gained from the ADR framework strengthen the university’s commitment to holistic education by integrating principles of legal awareness, ethical responsibility, and conflict resolution into instruction, research, and extension initiatives.
Exposure to mediation processes enhances students’ critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills, which are essential competencies in any professional field. Moreover, the engagement fosters stronger linkages with the judiciary and community stakeholders, opening opportunities for collaborative activities that enrich learning experiences and community service programs.
Through its participation, USTP Oroquieta reaffirms its commitment to community engagement and institutional cooperation, supporting justice-sector reforms aimed at improving access to fair, timely, and amicable dispute resolution in Misamis Occidental.
