The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Oriental (USTP Oroquieta), strengthened its dedication to technical vocational education by partnering with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Region 10 (TESDA 10). These developments included the formalization of a system-wide partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on January 26, 2026, and the accreditation of USTP Oroquieta as a TESDA Assessment Center on February 4, 2026.

USTP Oroquieta and TESDA Region 10 formalized their partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Ceremonial Signing held at the USTP Cagayan de Oro Campus. The agreement aimed to provide accessible and high-quality education by bridging technical-vocational training and higher education, enhancing employability, and contributing to national development. The MOA was formally signed by Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II, USTP System President, and Mr. Rafael Y. Abrogar II, Regional Director of TESDA Region 10, marking a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between the two institutions.

Building on this system-level collaboration, USTP Oroquieta further reinforced the partnership after receiving a Certificate of Accreditation from TESDA Region 10 at the TESDA Misamis Occidental Provincial Office in Oroquieta City. The certification recognized USTP Oroquieta as an Assessment Center for Bread and Pastry Production NC II, expanding opportunities for skills assessment and certification in the province.

The accreditation followed an on-site inspection conducted on December 12, 2025, at the USTP Oroquieta Food Laboratory by the TESDA X certification and accreditation team, led by Ms. Gemma Lee, in coordination with the TESDA Misamis Occidental inspection team. The successful accreditation highlighted the campus’s readiness to deliver industry-aligned assessment services.

Together, the MOA signing and the accreditation of USTP Oroquieta and TESDA X’s demonstrated the continuing efforts to strengthen education pathways, support workforce development, and empower students with relevant skills aligned with industry and national development goals.
