The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon) actively participated in the nationwide observance of the 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration at USTP Panaon on March 04, 2026. The celebration involves a series of meaningful activities highlighting gender equality, inclusivity, wellness, and community engagement. The month-long celebration brought together faculty, staff, and students in various events held every Wednesday and Friday throughout March 2026.
USTP Panaon Acting Campus Director Dr. Leny Q. Añasco delivered an inspirational message in which she encouraged the campus community to continue promoting respect, equality, and inclusivity in their daily interactions. This was followed by the activity “Beyond Gender: Voices in Harmony,” a competition for faculty members held at the campus grounds. Representatives across programs showcased their musical talents, creating a lively atmosphere that fostered camaraderie and strengthened the sense of unity within the campus community.
To promote health and physical wellness, the campus also conducted Zumba dance sessions where faculty and staff enthusiastically participated, which offered the community an opportunity to stay active while strengthening bonds among colleagues.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the ball game activity. Faculty members participated in friendly volleyball and badminton games held at the campus grounds. The sports event encouraged teamwork, sportsmanship, and collaboration, reinforcing the spirit of unity within the campus community.
Moreover, the campus conducted a sensitivity training seminar with the theme “WE for Gender Equality: Strengthening Inclusive and Safe Spaces for All.” The training aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of gender concepts and promote an equitable workplace and learning environment. The resource speaker was Ms. Lucille Mae S. Tare, Administrative Officer IV (HRM Officer II) of USTP Panaon. Topics discussed included the differences between sex and gender, gender roles and socialization, gender identity and expression, as well as gender bias, stereotypes, and workplace realities.
Through these activities, USTP Panaon reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality, inclusivity, and community development. The celebration of National Women’s Month served not only to recognize women’s contributions to society but also to promote awareness, collaboration, and empowerment within the university community.
The ongoing month-long celebration highlights the institution’s continuing efforts to create a campus culture where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive in a respectful, supportive, and inclusive environment.
