The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) – Provincial Office (Misamis Occidental) and the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon (USTP Panaon) held a coordination meeting on March 9, 2026, at the DAR Provincial Office in Ozamis City to discuss future projects for Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) in the province.

The meeting centered on presenting various initiatives and interventions designed to strengthen the capacities of ARBOs. Both institutions agreed that all proposed projects would be firmly anchored on the results of the recently conducted Training Needs Assessment (TNA) to ensure that interventions directly address the specific requirements of each ARBO.

The collaborative effort aims to move beyond generic capability-building activities by utilizing the TNA findings as the foundation for developing targeted training programs and support services. This data-driven approach allows DAR and USTP Panaon to identify and respond to the actual gaps in knowledge, skills, and organizational management prevalent among the agrarian reform communities. The projects discussed are expected to equip ARBO members with practical and modern techniques relevant to their endeavors.

The partnership represents a strategic alignment between the government agency and the academic institution in advancing rural development in Misamis Occidental. By leveraging USTP Panaon’s technical expertise and DAR’s direct linkage with the organizations, the forthcoming projects aim to transform ARBOs into more productive, self-reliant, and sustainable enterprises. The implementation of the training programs is planned to commence within the year.
