The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon) participated in a training on customizable educational drones organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Misamis Occidental on March 20–21, 2026, at the DOST Misamis Occidental Innovation Hub. The two-day training focused on the application of drone technology in precision agriculture, search and rescue, aerial mapping, disaster management, and other research initiatives.

Representing USTP Panaon was Romulo S. Bomediano III, BSIT faculty member, who actively engaged in the sessions and hands-on activities.

A key highlight of the training was the X-LIPAD DREAM System, a flexible drone educational platform designed for integration into academic curricula. Developed under a learn-and-play approach, the system enables students to explore various aspects of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology through modular assembly and autonomous build processes. By combining creativity with experiential learning, the platform promotes student engagement in programming and engineering while fostering innovation.

Following the training, participants are expected to utilize the Innovation Hub’s robotics and drone resources for small-group instruction and research activities. This initiative further strengthens USTP Panaon’s commitment to innovation-driven education and its continued collaboration with DOST in advancing technology-based learning and extension programs.
