Strengthening CHED GE courses: USTP Panaon educators complete intensive GEC training

Faculty members from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon), Ms. Darfe Mae D. Dando, Mr. Shann Niel A. Yurong, and Mr. Jan James G. Arañas actively participated in a three-day extensive training program on the 2025 General Education Curriculum (GEC). The event was conducted by the General Education Program of City College of Cagayan de Oro, held from November 12 to 14, 2025, at the CCCDO’s Agusan Campus. The training aimed to equip educators with enhanced skills for delivering CHED-mandated GE courses effectively.
A total of 69 faculty members attended the program, representing CCCDO and other local institutions, including Opol Community College and various USTP campuses.
The workshops emphasized modern teaching strategies, including outcomes-based learning, contextualized delivery, and collaborative learning techniques. Specific sessions addressed core subjects, including Understanding the Self, Ethics, and The Contemporary World, featuring presentations from expert speakers like Dr. Nathalie T. Igot.
The participation of USTP faculty underscores their commitment to maintaining high academic standards and fostering instructional excellence.
