The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon) participated in the Intensive Research Concept Proposal Writing Workshop held on March 2–3, 2026. The blended training format combined online with in-person sessions, bringing together educators to enhance their competencies in developing clear and impactful research concept proposals for academic and community-based initiatives.

The workshop equipped participants; Mr. Charlemagne Recente, Mr. Geson Earl Dalagan, and Ms. Darfe Mae Dando with practical skills in crafting research proposals that effectively communicate project goals, methodologies, and expected outcomes. Sessions covered essential elements such as identifying research gaps, formulating clear research questions, setting achievable objectives, and designing feasible methodologies aligned with institutional research priorities and community needs. As a working session, participants actively developed their research proposal drafts, receiving targeted guidance from facilitators throughout the process.

Interactive exercises and peer feedback sessions emphasized clarity, logical structure, and evidence-based research planning. Key challenges addressed included unclear problem statements, weak alignment with research agendas, duplication of studies, and insufficient problem validation. By the March 15 deadline, participants were expected to produce submission-ready research concept proposals.

The training underscored the vital role of research concept proposals in advancing academic knowledge and fostering innovation. It also provided an opportunity for educators to refine their analytical and technical writing skills while exchanging insights with peers.

The participating faculty returned to USTP Panaon with strengthened competencies in research concept proposal development, prepared to apply these skills in designing innovative studies that support institutional research agendas and contribute to meaningful community engagement.
