USTP Panaon kicks-off IT Days 2023

Information Technology (IT) students and faculty of USTP Panaon gathered for the highly anticipated IT Days celebration last April 24-25, 2023, with the theme “Explore, Think and Innovate amidst the New Normal.” The two-day event aimed to educate and inspire students, featuring a range of contests and workshops, such as the Photoshop Workshop, Logo-making Contest, Mobile Photography Contest, Typing Master Accuracy Contest, Programming Contest, Short Film-making Contest, Parlor Games, and the highly anticipated Mr. IT False Gay 2023 competition.

The first day of the event kicked off with a keynote speech from Engr. Mark Rey Z. Embodo, IT faculty member and USTP Panaon Strategic Communication Graphic Artist, who discussed the tools of Photoshop and provided samples on how to make a logo.

Participants learned advanced techniques for creating visually stunning designs, and the logo making contest drew many participants who showcased their creativity and design skills. The winning design was a simple yet innovative logo that captured the essence of the event.

The short filmmaking contest showcased the talent and creativity of IT students in making films under the drama, romance, comedy, and thriller genres. In relation, the mobile photography contest challenged participants to capture creative and unique shots using their mobile phones.

Moreover, the typing master accuracy contest tested the participants’ typing skills, with the fastest and most accurate typist being crowned the winner. The programming contest saw participants showcase their coding skills and creativity in developing a range of applications.

Apart from the technical contests, the event also featured parlor games, where students could take a break from the workshops and competitions to unwind and have fun. The highlight of the event was the Mr. IT False Gay 2023 competition, where contestants competed in various categories such as swimwear, formal wear, and Q&A. Candidates wowed the judges with their wit and exceptional performance.

The IT Days ended as a great success, leaving students informed and inspired. Many noted that the event was a valuable opportunity to connect with other students in the department.
