USTP Panaon leads home economics excellence with new PATHESCU appointments

Faculty members of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon) were formally inducted as regional leaders of the Philippine Association for Technology in Home Economics of State Colleges and Universities, Inc. (PATHESCU, Inc.) during a virtual ceremony held via Zoom on February 28, 2026. Christopher R. Balaba took his oath as the Region X Vice Chairperson, while Mary Jane A. Moralia was inducted as the Region X Secretary. Both will serve the region until 2028, representing the campus in one of the country’s most prestigious professional organizations for home economists.

The induction of Mr. Balaba and Ms. Moralia strengthens USTP Panaon’s commitment to its fourfold mission: instruction, research, extension, and production. Their appointments enhance the university’s national visibility and highlight the quality of its faculty, who are influential leaders shaping the future of home economics education in the Philippines.

PATHESCU, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit organization of home economists and related practitioners affiliated with state colleges and universities. Accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as a CPD provider, its programs, including conferences and webinars, offer CPD points for professionals. With USTP Panaon faculty actively involved, the university will play a key role in advancing the profession through annual research conferences and specialized workshops.
