USTP Panaon, LGU fire department partners for fire safety seminar

 The Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) students of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon) actively participated in the “Ready, Alert, Safe: Fire Drill Seminar” held on March 31, 2026. The activity aimed to enhance students’ awareness and preparedness in responding to fire-related emergencies and disaster situations.

The seminar was organized by the Future Educators’ Guild (FEG) of USTP Panaon, in collaboration with the Municipal Fire Department of the Local Government Unit of Panaon. It provided essential knowledge on fire safety, including common causes of fire, preventive measures, and proper evacuation procedures. The seminar also emphasized the importance of staying calm, alert, and organized during emergencies to ensure safety and minimize risks.

The activity was led by SFO3 Cheryl S. Peralta, OIC Municipal Fire Marshal, together with FO3 Gerome Laurence G. Barreto as the Resource Speaker. Through their expertise, students gained practical insights and developed essential skills necessary for effective emergency response.

Overall, the seminar was a success as it empowered future educators to become more vigilant, responsible, and prepared in promoting safety within their schools and communities. The activity also highlighted the university’s continued commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and safety awareness among its students.
