USTP Panaon participates in Quarterly NSRC Board Meeting

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon) through its National Service Training Program (NSTP), actively participated in the 1st Quarter Board Meeting and Orientation on the National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC) held on February 28, 2025, at the Pearlmont Hotel, Limketkai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City. This significant event, which was a collaborative effort of NSTP Directors and Coordinators from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), and Private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the region, highlighted the power of teamwork in achieving our common goals.

The meeting served as a platform for discussing crucial matters concerning NSTP implementation. Highlights of the event included a courtesy call of the newly elected officers to the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office-10 (CHEDRO-10), followed by the induction of the NEAR-10, Inc. Board of Trustees (BOT) officers for the academic year 2024-202

Furthermore, the meeting provided updates on the revised minimum standards for NSTP common modules and NSTP 2, ensuring alignment with current educational policies and community engagement strategies. The session also discussed the implementation of community immersion programs for the second semester of SY 2024-2025, fostering hands-on learning experiences for NSTP students. Additionally, participants were guided on compliance with various CHED Memorandum Orders, including CMO No. 9, s. 2013; No. 86, s. 2017; No. 27, s. 2015; and No. 190, s. 2022, which set the regulatory framework for NSTP implementation.

 

An orientation was also conducted by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on the school-based NSRC, which underscored the role of NSRC in disaster preparedness and response, emphasizing the importance of equipping students with the necessary skills to serve as community responders during emergencies.

USTP Panaon’s active engagement in this meeting reaffirms its commitment to strengthening its NSTP programs and fostering civic responsibility among students.
