USTP partners with Malaysia's Twin Catalyst and Cebu-based JMF Enterprises to strengthen healthcare innovation

In strengthening healthcare innovation in the Philippines, Malaysia’s Twin Catalyst signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) on July 10, 2025, at a hotel in Makati City. The MOU signing marks the start of a strategic collaboration to promote clinical research and advance biomedical innovation, strengthening innovation in the healthcare ecosystems in Malaysia and the Philippines.

On the same day, the nationwide distribution of the Wondaleaf Adhesive Pouch was also launched through a ceremonial partnership agreement between Twin Catalyst and Cebu-based JMF Enterprises. USTP will support this initiative by conducting clinical research on the product.

The Wondaleaf Adhesive Pouch is a 3D wound care solution that will soon be distributed and utilized in hospitals and healthcare facilities across the Philippines.

USTP System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II expressed his full support for the partnership, acknowledging that the partnership fosters innovation and addresses healthcare challenges that both nations encountered, alongside distributing the cutting-edge products.

Moreover, Dr. Cultura also shared the strategic goals of the partnership, which include increasing medical innovation, supporting demand-signaling for health technologies, conducting validation research, exploring joint funding opportunities, strengthening innovation-to-commercialization pathways, and showcasing Philippine and Malaysian technologies in both regional and international platforms. 

In closing his speech, Dr. Cultura emphasized the lasting value of international collaboration and co-developing solutions in Malaysia’s and the Philippines’ healthcare systems.

The MOU was signed by Dr. John Tang, Chief Executive of Twin Catalyst; John Fernandez of JMF Enterprises; and Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II, USTP System President. Furthermore, Dr. Lory Liza D. Bulay-og, USTP System Vice President for Academic Affairs and Acting Campus Director of USTP Alubijid, was present during the signing ceremony.
