The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) secured its second utility patent, granted on May 30, 2025, with a term until August 2, 2042, under Patent No. 1/2022/050407.

The patented invention, “An Apparatus for Demonstrating Multiple Stream Flow Measurement Methods,” was developed by faculty members of the College of Engineering and Architecture of USTP Cagayan de Oro: Engr. Reuel C. Pallugna, Engr. Clark Darwin M. Gozon, Engr. Kenneth James Bryle G. Magsayo, and Engr. Jamali A. Nagamora. The apparatus is intended for instructional and research use in hydraulic engineering. Its modular design allows students and researchers to examine and compare several stream flow measurement methods within a single, cost-effective setup. This supports more hands-on and practical learning in the classroom and laboratory.

USTP continues to support initiatives that align academic knowledge with real-world application, especially in areas where engineering solutions can improve instruction, training, and community impact.

Keep moving onwards and up, Trailblazers!
