USTP SHS bags awards in DSPC 2023

The USTP Senior High School Department bagged several awards during the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Cagayan de Oro City’s Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) last February 25, 2023.

Fidgety but excited, ten (10) senior high school students headed to Bulua National High School for the Radio Broadcasting contest while thirteen (13) students proceeded to Cagayan de Oro National High School for individual events, such as News Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, Editorial Cartooning, and Sports Writing in Filipino and English categories. 

The DepEd Cagayan de Oro declared USTP SHS student journalists as winners in the following competitions:

The winners will be competing with the other winners from various divisions across Region 10 for the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) on March 4, 2023, at the East City Central School.

With barely one week to prepare for the contest, twenty-three (23) student journalists with their coaches Ms. Leah Mae Tabosares and Ms. Jessa Mae Sardan, gave it 110% during their training and rehearsals.

The Campus Journalism Act of 1991 declares the policy of the State to uphold and protect the freedom of the press even at the campus level and to promote the development and growth of campus journalism as a means of strengthening ethical values, encouraging critical and creative thinking, and developing moral character and personal discipline of the Filipino Youth.
