The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) continues to advance its internationalization efforts by forging strategic partnerships with five international universities during the Times Higher Education (THE) Global Sustainable Development Congress held from June 16-19, 2025, at the Istanbul Congress Center in Istanbul, Türkiye.

USTP, represented by University System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II and Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Loryliza D. Bulay-og, formalized collaborations through the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs)/Memorandum of Cooperation (MOCs) with Ankara University, Atatürk University, and Biruni University, all based in Istanbul, as well as with European University in Kyiv, Ukraine, and Ibn Tofail University in Morocco. These partnerships foster academic and research exchanges, joint projects, and initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The congress, organized by THE in partnership with Türkiye’s Council of Higher Education, gathered higher education leaders, change-makers, and industry executives worldwide to address global sustainable development challenges. The event also featured the exclusive unveiling of the 2025 edition of the THE Impact Rankings, which evaluate universities’ contributions to achieving the SDGs.

USTP’s participation underscores its commitment to expanding its global footprint and engaging with international peers to drive collective action toward sustainable development. By building these new linkages, USTP seeks to create more opportunities for collaborative research, faculty and student mobility, and shared innovation, reinforcing its thrust to advance a sustainable future in the region and beyond.
