USTP welcomes 31 pioneer enrollees of the MPSI Program

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II welcomed the pioneer batch of the Masters in Public Sector Innovations (MPSI) during the orientation last February 6, 2021.

Dr. Cultura thanked the first batch for accepting the challenge of taking the MPSI program and trusting the process of learning that the faculty and the rest of the administration of the Institute of Governance, Innovations and Sustainability (IGIS) have prepared.

“Ultimately you make this happen by sharing your acquired knowledge, skills and experience to explore initiatives that would benefit the academe, the industry , the government and even the community” Dr. Cultura added.

MPSI is the maiden program of the IGIS designed for professional advancement of individuals engaged in public sector work.

The new program is co-designed with Golden Gate University’s Executive Master of Public Administration program with the support of the United States Agency International Development (USAID) – Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (SURGE) Project.

Timeline of events in the preparation of the MPSI program

There are 31 enrollees in the program who came from the different agencies and offices in the public sector.

The two year program has four (4) pathways:

  • Public Policy Studies
  • Sustainable Development
  • Digital Platforms and e-Governance Solutions
  • Environment and Climate Solutions

Dr. Demetria May T. Saniel is the Director of IGIS and MPSI Program with Dr. Maria Noelyn S. Dano as Deputy Director.

Among the notable list of faculty members for the 2nd semester include Dr. Montano F. Salvador, Dir. Romeo Naces, Dr. Alan S. Cajes, Dr. Demetria May T. Saniel, Dr. Maria Noelyn S. Dano and Dr. Francis Thaise A. Cimene.
