Being at the forefront in the field of innovation and technological entrepreneurship, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) recently offered a faculty bootcamp for the Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) in the region.
Engr Bronson Mabulay gives a lecture on technopreneurship while Ronald Minoza of Streetby shares his Startup experience.
Among the participants are from Liceo de Cagayan University, Bukidnon State University, Capitol University, Xavier University and Central Mindanao University.
The participants were taught on the concepts of entrepreneurship program framework, start-ups, and opportunity recognition including how to talk to users and raise capital. They were also expected to pitch their own innovative ideas and identify business opportunities.

USTP started the faculty bootcamp in 2016 and has integrated innovation and technological entrepreneurship subjects in its engineering curricula and among the different programs in the university.
USTP System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II challenged the participants on the role of the academic institutions in fostering support for innovators and entrepreneurs with Region 10 being among the Regional Inclusive Innovation Centers in the Philippines. The region is expected grow in leaps in terms of economic development in a few years’ time.
