DRERMFI holds soft launch at USTP Claveria to advance education and innovation

The Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras Memorial Foundation, Inc. (DRERMFI) held its soft launch during the World Teachers’ Day celebration at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) on October 5, 2026.

The Foundation introduced its vision and mission through its first promotional video presented during the University’s Teachers’ Day program. The presentation highlighted DRERMFI’s commitment to continuing the legacy of Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras, the first President of USTP and former National President of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC).

DRERMFI held a press briefing at the Chancellor’s Boardroom with media representatives from Cagayan de Oro City. The briefing presented the Foundation’s plans, proposed programs, and opportunities for individuals and organizations to support its initiatives.

DRERMFI envisions a globally respected philanthropic foundation advancing science, technology, innovation, and transformative education. Its mission is to mobilize resources, forge partnerships, and support programs in education, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and community development.

Present during the soft launch were members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, led by Engr. Zarah Lynn A. Rotoras, Chairperson and President; Vanessa V. Ascano, DPA, Corporate Secretary; and Herbert Glenn P. Reyes, PhD, Corporate Treasurer.

Among the proposed initiatives presented by the Foundation were:

  • DRER Legacy Global Faculty Scholars Program – Advanced studies support for faculty members
  • DRER Legacy Student Leaders Program – Leadership development for students
  • DRER LegacyProfessional Staff Fellows Program – Capability-building for non-teaching personnel
  • Student Incubation Program – Mentoring and business planning support for students
  • “Sustansya” Student Meals Initiative – Meal support for students during examination periods
  • Farmers’ and Fisherfolk Market Access Initiative – Livelihood and market access partnerships for farmers and fisherfolk
