DTLE-FEG empowers students with Cyber-Digital Literacy Campaign

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) in Panaon, Misamis Occidental, took a significant step towards enhancing the digital skills of its students by organizing a Cyber-Digital Literacy Campaign on December 7, 2023, at the USTP Function Hall.
The event, spearheaded by the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education department in collaboration with the Future Educators’ Guild (FEG), aimed to equip all BTLEd students with essential digital skills, recognizing the growing importance of technology in education and the professional world.
Mr. Kenneth T. Asuncion, Information Technology Officer I of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and a distinguished Electronics and Communication Engineer (ECE), served as the guest speaker for the occasion. Addressing the attentive audience, Engr. Asuncion emphasized the pivotal role of future teachers in fostering effective learning environments for their students.
“As future teachers, you are responsible for your students’ learning,” remarked Mr. Asuncion, underscoring educators’ crucial role in shaping the next generation’s understanding of technology.
The campaign’s highlight was the insightful tips on properly utilizing digital tools, recognizing the ubiquity of technology in modern education, and providing practical advice on leveraging digital resources to enhance teaching methodologies and engage students effectively.
The event was a dynamic platform for students to gain valuable insights into digital literacy and interact with industry experts. The participants expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for the initiative, acknowledging the importance of staying abreast of technological advancements.
The USTP Panaon continues to prioritize initiatives that prepare its students for the challenges of the digital age.
