The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Balubal, Cagayan de Oro (USTP Balubal) successfully conducted its socio-cultural activity on May 4, 2026, highlighting student creativity, talent, and school spirit through a series of performances and competitions held on campus. The activity gathered students from various campus organizations and academic programs, showcasing diverse artistic and cultural presentations from the USTP Balubal community.
Among the featured performers were the Dumahi-a Dance Company, Euphonix Band, and The Capers, who entertained the audience with dynamic dance and musical performances throughout the program.
One of the major highlights of the event was the search for the USTP Balubal Ambassador and Ambassadress, participated in by student representatives from the campus’s three academic programs. Candidates showcased confidence, creativity, and personality during the different segments, including the department shirt exposure and sportswear and jeans competition. The candidates also participated in a question-and-answer portion, where they demonstrated composure, confidence, and critical thinking through their responses to relevant and timely questions.
At the culmination of the competition, Mr. Ja’mare Mcleeroy Betanio, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) student, was named USTP Balubal Ambassador, while Ms. Jasminerose N. Ellevera was crowned USTP Balubal Ambassadress. First runner-up honors were awarded to Ms. Juditha P. Eslais, a third-year Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (BAT) student, and Mr. Bernie Domingo, a first-year Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) student. Meanwhile, second runner-up titles were earned by Ms. Zwayrenelle Dianne Baja, a second-year BTLED student, and Mr. Jewish Andrew Dingal, a first-year BSA student.
Beyond the competition, the socio-cultural activity served as a platform for students to express their talents, strengthen camaraderie, and embody the spirit of “BAROG,” a core value upheld by the Trailblazers of USTP Balubal.
Through activities such as this, USTP Balubal continues to promote holistic student development by providing opportunities for students to excel not only academically but also in culture, leadership, and the arts.
