USTP Oroquieta participates in Beyond Borders 2026 at Xavier University

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta), joined the 5th edition of Beyond Borders: International Days, hosted by Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan on April 27, 2026, at the XU Little Theater in Cagayan de Oro City. Anchored on the theme “Nurturing Legacies, Serving Communities: Realizing Our Global Mission through Local Impact,” the event gathered higher education institutions in a shared commitment to advancing internationalization alongside meaningful community engagement.

USTP Oroquieta was represented by Ms. Marevel B. Caburnay, International Affairs Coordinator. Her presence underscored USTP Oroquieta’s commitment to global collaboration, providing opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and benchmarking of best practices in internationalization. The opening program featured distinguished speakers, including Dr. Christine Nabor Ferrer, Director IV and Director-in-Charge of the International Affairs Service; Dr. Arlita Amapola B. Minguez of CHED Regional Office; X; Ms. Beatriz Jimeno Ortas, Education Advisor at the Spanish Embassy in Manila; and Ms. Hannah Mae S. Salugsugan of AFS Philippines. Their messages emphasized strengthening global linkages, intercultural understanding, and collaborative academic initiatives. The event was led by Dr. Shiella C. Balbutin, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Networking (OICN) of Xavier University, who underscored the importance of sustained international collaboration among higher education institutions.

USTP Oroquieta’s participation in Beyond Borders 2026 reaffirmed its commitment to advancing global engagement within the university system. More importantly, it strengthened its resolve to align international exposure with locally grounded initiatives that contribute to institutional growth and community development.
