USTP Balubal students excel in Isang Farmilya 2026 competitions

Students from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Balubal, Cagayan de Oro (USTP Balubal) showcased their innovation, entrepreneurship, and talent during the Isang Farmilya 2026 event organized by the City Agricultural Productivity Operations Office on May 30, 2026, at the Tourism Hall, Cagayan de Oro City Hall.

Representing the USTP Balubal 4-H Club, students from the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Precision Agriculture participated in various competitions highlighting agricultural innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership. The delegation included Lerdemar S. Oyanon, Joshua Maputol, Jamerex Quinco, and Ivan Charles Alconde, accompanied by Mr. Harold John Payla, Research Associate of the Center for Advanced Precision and Smart Farming Practices (CAPSP) and Federation Vice President of the Federation of 4-H Clubs of Cagayan de Oro.

USTP Balubal students earned recognition in the Agri Project Pitching Competition through two innovative project entries. Lerdemar S. Oyanon and Joshua Maputol secured Third Place with HydroSense, an agri-technology project designed to promote agricultural efficiency and sustainability.

Meanwhile, Jamerex Quinco and Ivan Charles Alconde emerged as champions with Crunch Monkey, an agri-enterprise project recognized for its creativity, practicality, and market potential. Both winning teams received a ₱20,000 starter grant to support the further development and implementation of their respective projects.

In addition to the project pitching competition, Jamerex Quinco also earned First Place in The Voice of 4-H CDO, demonstrating excellence in the event’s talent competition.
