Faculty members from the Department of Technology Communication Management (DTCM) of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro (USTP CDO) participated in PANAGTAGBO 2026, an international scholarly conference organized by the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE) in partnership with the International Communication Association (ICA). The event was held on June 5–6, 2026 at Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan.

With the theme “Communicating Across Difference, Place, and Power in Mindanao,” the conference served as an ICA26 Regional Hub, bringing together communication educators, researchers, practitioners, and students from various institutions. The gathering highlighted Mindanao as an important space for dialogue, knowledge production, and inclusive scholarly engagement.

Representing USTP CDO were DTCM faculty members Jerwin Borres, Anne Lorraine Sitoy, John David Moncada, Crystal Sylvette Lavender Raro, and Maria Doreen Cuevas-Rañada, who also serves as Regional Coordinator of PACE.

The conference provided a platform for scholarly exchange and critical discussions on key issues in the field, including intercultural communication, media and society, and the dynamics of power and representation. Through their participation, the faculty members contributed to ongoing conversations aimed at strengthening communication research and education in the region.

Beyond the academic sessions, PANAGTAGBO 2026 fostered professional networking and collaboration among scholars, educators, and practitioners. The event likewise underscored the importance of developing inclusive and socially responsive communication practices that address the needs of diverse communities.

The participation of DTCM faculty in PANAGTAGBO 2026 reflects USTP’s continuing commitment to academic excellence, research engagement, and meaningful collaboration in advancing communication scholarship in Mindanao and beyond.
