The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro (USTP CDO) celebrated World Teachers’ Day through PAGTAMUD, an event organized by the Faculty Association (FA) and the Faculty and Support Personnel Association (FASPA). Carrying the theme “Recognizing Teachers’ Role as Catalysts for a Renewed Society,” the celebration honored educators’ contributions while providing opportunities for relaxation, recreation, and fellowship.
USTP System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II delivered an inspirational message highlighting the important role of teachers in shaping students’ knowledge, values, and character. He emphasized that educators contribute not only to quality instruction but also to guiding students toward becoming responsible individuals who can make positive contributions to society.
Dr. Cultura also underscored the value of teachers’ dedication and commitment to the University’s educational mission, recognizing their influence in preparing future professionals and helping build a renewed society.
The program featured various activities that allowed faculty members to showcase their talents beyond the classroom, including:
- Lakan and Hara – Representatives from each college participated in a pageant-style competition, showcasing their confidence and representing their respective academic units.
- Sing Me the Tune Challenge – Participants tested their musical knowledge and ability to recognize songs.
- Videoke Challenge – Faculty members took the microphone to showcase their singing talents and entertain fellow participants.
- Dance Competition – Participants demonstrated their dance skills, energy, and creativity through their performances.
- Vocal Duet Singing Contest – Pairs of participants performed together, highlighting their vocal abilities and teamwork.
In support of personnel well-being, the celebration offered complimentary pampering services, including manicures and pedicures, massages, and haircuts.
The program also featured a raffle draw for all participants, giving everyone the chance to take home prizes. Meanwhile, awards were presented to the winners of each activity in recognition of their performances and achievements.
USTP CDO provided a venue to recognize educators’ contributions while promoting fellowship and well-being among faculty members and support personnel. The celebration highlighted the importance of acknowledging the people who contribute to the university’s educational mission.
