The 5th MDP Student Conference 2026 was successfully conducted via Zoom on March 7, 2026, gathering academic leaders, researchers, and students under the theme, “Driving Future Economy through AI and Digital Sustainability: Building Smart and Circular Innovation for a Resilient Future.” The conference highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in shaping sustainable and resilient economies. Organized by Universitas Multi Data Palembang and co-hosted by the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria), the virtual conference served as a platform for knowledge exchange and research presentations among participating institutions.
USTP Claveria was represented by Engr. Louriejean L. Alfar, Head of the International Affairs Office, and Prof. Alphany D. Aragua, Department Head of the Information Technology program, together with faculty members from the College of Information Technology. A highlight of the participation was the presentation of a research paper entitled “GeoTrack: Enhancing RSBSA through GIS in Mat-i, Claveria, Misamis Oriental,” by Ms. Janelle B. Toquero. The study focuses on improving the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) in Mat-i, Claveria through GeoTracking, addressing the limitations of spreadsheet-based data management that restrict visualization and analysis.
The system integrates Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to provide spatial mapping, farmer profiling, and improved agricultural data management through a web-based platform. The paper was co-authored by Joshua Mervin V. Batiancila, Junna Mitchelle C. Mapalo, Evon Q. Maxilom, Jay-Ar P. Nagandang, Ms. Toquero, and Aubrey A. Lavarez. Their work underscored the importance of integrating digital tools in addressing real-world challenges in agriculture and community development.
The conference reaffirmed the commitment of participating institutions to foster innovation, collaboration, and sustainability through research and digital advancement.
