The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria), held its Ecumenical Baccalaureate Service on July 1, 2026, at the USTP Claveria Multipurpose Training Center as one of the culminating activities of the university’s 40th Commencement Exercises. The solemn gathering brought together university officials, faculty members, staff, parents, guests, and members of the graduating class of 2026 in a celebration of thanksgiving, reflection, and prayer.
The service provided graduates with an opportunity to express gratitude for God’s guidance throughout their academic journey while seeking His blessings as they prepare to pursue their professional careers and lifelong aspirations.
The program opened with a prayer led by Pastor Delso Malacaya, Senior Pastor of Assembly of God Kalingagan, followed by the offering of the university mace, awards, and diplomas, symbolizing the university’s commitment to academic excellence and the responsibility that accompanies educational achievement.
The Blessing of Awards, Diplomas, and Hoods was officiated by Rev. Fr. Antonio Noel V. Carbayas, SSJV, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, who reminded the graduating class that their academic accomplishments are not only personal milestones but also opportunities to serve society with integrity, compassion, and excellence.
Pastor Ronneil P. Gulanes, Senior Pastor of Blessed Hope Baptist Church, delivered the Scripture Reading, while Pastor James P. Lomocso, Senior Pastor of Glorious Claveria Advent Christian Church, delivered the baccalaureate message anchored on the acronym “USTP.” He encouraged the graduates to understand God’s calling, stay spiritually strong, trust God through every season, and pursue God’s purpose as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
Drawing inspiration from John 15:5 and Proverbs 3:5–6, Pastor Lomocso emphasized that lasting success comes from maintaining a strong relationship with God. He reminded the graduates that education is not only about earning a degree but also about discovering their purpose, serving others with humility, and trusting God’s guidance through every season of life.
Following the inspirational message, selected graduating students led the General Intercessions, offering prayers for the graduates, their families, the university, the nation, and the world. Representatives of the parents, faculty and staff, and the graduating class also delivered offertory and thanksgiving prayers in gratitude for God’s faithfulness throughout their academic journey.
The celebration concluded with the benediction delivered by Pastor Robert Barsobia Olivar, Seventh-day Adventist District Pastor of the Northern Mindanao Conference, who offered prayers of blessing as the graduates prepared to serve their professions and communities with competence, integrity, and compassion. Ms. Phoebe Jane Limos hosted the ceremony, while selected faculty members and graduating students led the worship songs.
As one of the culminating activities of the university’s 40th Commencement Exercises, the Ecumenical Baccalaureate Service reaffirmed USTP Claveria’s commitment to the holistic formation of its graduates by nurturing not only academic excellence but also spiritual growth, ethical leadership, and social responsibility.
With renewed faith and a deeper sense of purpose, the graduating class of 2026 now leaves the university equipped with the knowledge, skills, values, and resilience to become transformative leaders and professionals who will contribute meaningfully to their communities, the nation, and the world.
