USTP Claveria wins two championship titles in inter-agency pickleball tournament

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) showcased its athletic excellence after securing two championship titles during the 1st RS DOKI Inter-Agency Summer Pickleball Tournament held on May 23, 2026, at the USTP Claveria Multipurpose Gymnasium. The tournament brought together athletes and sports enthusiasts from various government agencies and institutions, including the Department of Education (DepEd), Local Government Unit (LGU) of Claveria, Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Claveria Water District, and USTP Claveria, promoting camaraderie, teamwork, and healthy competition among participants.

Leading USTP Claveria’s winning campaign were Joy Pepania and Leo Lynne Palma, who emerged as champions in the Beginners Category (Women’s Doubles) after demonstrating outstanding teamwork, determination, and consistency throughout the competition.

Adding another title to the University’s achievements were Epiphany Marie N. Guiao and Mariell C. Mata, who captured the championship in the Novice Category (Women’s Doubles) through their impressive performance and competitive spirit on the court.

The athletes were formally recognized during the USTP Claveria Monday Convocation, where University officials, faculty members, support personnel, and students celebrated their achievement. The recognition highlighted the University’s commitment to promoting sports development, wellness, and holistic excellence among its personnel and stakeholders.

University officials commended the champions for exemplifying discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship—values that reflect the ideals of USTP Claveria both within and beyond the academic community.

The achievement not only brought pride and honor to the University but also highlighted the growing popularity of pickleball as a recreational and competitive sport among government agencies and educational institutions.

Through initiatives that encourage participation in sports and wellness activities, USTP Claveria continues to foster physical fitness, camaraderie, and personal development while strengthening its culture of excellence.
