The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) has achieved a major milestone in its global sustainability journey, earning recognition across all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.

The achievement marks USTP’s most comprehensive performance to date in the international rankings, reflecting the University’s expanding contribution to sustainable development through education, research, innovation, and community engagement. The recognition represents a remarkable progression from participation in four SDGs in 2023, five in 2024, and 11 in 2025.

Among USTP’s notable accomplishments this year is its inclusion in six new SDG categories: Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), and Climate Action (SDG 13).

The University also recorded improved rankings in eight SDGs compared to its 2025 performance:

  • SDG 1 – No Poverty: from 1001+ to 401-600th
  • SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being: from 1501+ to 1001+
  • SDG 4 – Quality Education: from 1501+ to 1001+
  • SDG 5 – Gender Equality: from 401–600 to 301-400th
  • SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: from 1001+ to 601-800th
  • SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: from 1001+ to 601-800th
  • SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: from 1001+ to 801+
  • SDG 14 – Life Below Water: from 401–600 to 301-400th
  • SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: from 1001+ to 601-800th

USTP likewise maintained its strong standing in SDG 15 – Life on Land, remaining within the 401-600th bracket globally.

While ranking in SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals declined slightly compared to last year, the University’s overall performance demonstrates a broader and more inclusive engagement across the full spectrum of sustainability indicators.

USTP also retained its position within the 1001–1500th global bracket in the overall 2026 THE Impact Rankings, underscoring its sustained commitment to advancing the United Nations’ development agenda.

According to Times Higher Education, the 2026 rankings evaluated 1,646 universities from 116 countries and territories across 17 individual SDG categories and an overall ranking. The THE Impact Rankings remain the world’s only global performance table that assesses universities based on their progress toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

USTP was also listed as a Reporter in both the 2026 World University Rankings and Asia University Rankings.

The University’s latest achievement reflects the collective efforts of its faculty, staff, students, alumni, partners, and stakeholders in advancing science, technology, innovation, and sustainable development.

Congratulations, Trailblazers!
