The Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (CET) of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon) successfully conducted Demo Day 2026: Campuswide System Competition on May 25, 2026, at the USTP Training Center, providing students with a platform to present innovative and sustainable business solutions developed through their The Entrepreneurial Mind course.
The competition brought together student innovators from the Industrial Arts and Home Economics programs, with six finalist teams pitching their business concepts before a panel of judges. Participants presented product prototypes, demonstrated the feasibility of their business models, and defended their ideas, highlighting creativity, entrepreneurship, and practical solutions to community needs.
Emerging as the champion was Huskup Egg Tray from the Industrial Arts program, which introduced biodegradable egg trays made from discarded coconut husks as a sustainable alternative to conventional packaging. The project was recognized for its innovative use of agricultural waste and its potential to support environmentally sustainable practices in the local poultry industry.
Nutribites from the Home Economics program secured second place with its line of affordable, nutrient-rich snack products designed to promote healthier food options for children and health-conscious consumers. Meanwhile, Banana Stem Kimchi, also from the Home Economics program, earned third place for transforming banana stems into a fermented food product, demonstrating an innovative approach to food processing and agricultural waste utilization.
Demo Day 2026 highlighted the entrepreneurial potential of USTP Panaon students by encouraging them to apply classroom learning to real-world challenges. The activity also reinforced the University’s commitment to nurturing innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship while preparing students to become future business leaders, innovators, and contributors to community development.
Congratulations to all the participants and winners!
