USTP Villanueva partners with NMCI to advance industry-academe collaboration

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental (USTP Villanueva), formalized a partnership with the Northern Mindanao Chamber of Industries, Inc. (NMCI) through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing on September 28, 2026, during the chamber’s monthly meeting hosted at the campus. The agreement designates USTP Villanueva as the official headquarters and seat of NMCI, strengthening collaboration between the University and regional industries.

The activity was attended by Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II, USTP System President, and Prof. Colbert G. Rabaya, USTP Villanueva Campus Director, alongside representatives from various industries and organizations, including PHIVIDEC IA, Coca-Cola, FDC Misamis Power Corporation, PICMW, SMB, SPI, FICCO, DMPI, RI Chem, Axelum Resources Corp., Prime Accounting Services & Consulting, TESDA RTC-Tagoloan, BIOREV, and MPC.

The partnership aims to strengthen graduate employability, support technology business incubation, promote local industry development, and align academic curricula with industry needs. Through the agreement, USTP Villanueva and NMCI seek to expand opportunities for industry-academe collaboration in education, innovation, and workforce development.

The meeting also covered NMCI’s organizational matters, including Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registration updates, the designation of authorized bank signatories, the proposed Executive Director position, and planned community outreach and environmental initiatives for the remainder of the year.

Through this partnership, USTP Villanueva continues to strengthen its engagement with industry partners to support industry-responsive education, innovation, and economic development in Northern Mindanao.
