The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) is at the forefront of innovation and social impact, spearheading the re-implementation of the transformative Learning Express (LeX) 2024. Hosted by the USTP in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic, the 12-day program from March 4 to 15, 2024, propelled students across USTP  campuses into a journey of profound change, centered on design thinking and social innovation.

Delegates from USTP Oroquieta were Rechelli Poliran, President of the University Student Government, and Aljon Inting, President of the Active Certified Computer Enhance Student Society, who embody the diverse leadership within the University.

LeX 2024 offers participants a dynamic learning experience that transcends conventional classroom boundaries. It immerses them in activities like language acquisition and community homestays, fostering cultural exchange and empathy. Interactions with peers from Singapore provide a global perspective, broadening their understanding of the local community challenges in Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

Ultimately, LeX’s heart lies in its emphasis on design thinking. Over 30 USTP delegates were exposed to a workshop that serves as a crucible for innovation, igniting creative solutions to real-world issues.

Through LeX 2024, USTP is nurturing a cohort of socially conscious leaders. Equipped with practical skills and a global mindset, these leaders are poised to effect positive change in the Southern Philippines and beyond, instilling a sense of hope and optimism for a better future.

As students return to their respective campuses, they carry the lessons learned and the relationships forged. They are poised and empowered to continue their journey as agents of positive change in their communities and beyond, making a real difference in the world.
