USTP Architecture Faculty appointed Founding Editor-in-Chief of new peer-reviewed scholarly journal

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro (USTP CDO) marked another milestone in research and academic engagement as one of its architecture faculty members was appointed Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Journal of Architecture, Engineering and Sustainable Built Environment (AJAESBE), the first peer-reviewed scholarly journal to be published by the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Cagayan de Oro Chapter.
The establishment of AJAESBE was approved during the UAP Cagayan de Oro Chapter General Membership Meeting on July 10, 2026. The journal aims to serve as a platform for research publication and knowledge sharing in architecture, engineering, sustainability, and the built environment.
Appointed as Founding Editor-in-Chief is Dr. Adolph Vincent E. Vigor, Associate Professor V of the Architecture Department under the College of Engineering and Architecture at USTP CDO and Past President of the UAP Cagayan de Oro Chapter (FY 2024–2025).
Supporting the publication is an editorial board composed of USTP faculty members, including:
- Dr. Sarah O. Namoco – Associate Editor for Educational Research and Research Methodologies
- Dr. Israel A. Baguhin – Associate Editor for Structural, Geotechnical, and Earthquake Engineering
- Dr. Jonathan B. Calibara – Associate Editor for Materials and Construction Engineering
- Dr. Paul Joseph B. Estrera – Associate Editor for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Technologies, and Smart Systems
- Dr. Lloyd John B. Estampa – Associate Editor for Electronics Engineering and Intelligent Systems
- Dr. Vera Karla S. Caingles – Associate Editor for Structural Innovation and Geotechnical Engineering
- Dr. Maricel C. Dalde – Associate Editor for Urban Innovation
Also serving on the journal is Ar. Jonathan V. Manalad, National President of the United Architects of the Philippines, who accepted his appointment as Head of the Advisory Board and Honorary Associate Editor for Architecture.
AJAESBE is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that will publish original research articles, review papers, technical papers, and case studies covering architecture, engineering, sustainability, urban innovation, and the built environment. All manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure quality and originality.
The inaugural issue is scheduled for release in December 2026 through the official UAP Cagayan de Oro Chapter website. The Editorial Board also plans to pursue Google Scholar indexing, followed by Crossref DOI registration and inclusion in other international indexing databases.
The journal is now accepting manuscript submissions from researchers, faculty members, practicing architects and engineers, graduate students, and industry professionals. Submissions will undergo editorial screening before proceeding to peer review.
The launch of AJAESBE reflects the collaboration between USTP and the UAP Cagayan de Oro Chapter in advancing research, professional practice, and scholarly publishing. It also expands opportunities for researchers and practitioners to disseminate their work and contribute to the growing body of knowledge in architecture, engineering, and the sustainable built environment.
