The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon) men’s volleyball team finished as 1st Runner-Up in the 2026 USTP System-wide Training and Tournament held from July 6 to 9, 2026, at the Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras (DRER) Memorial Hall, USTP Cagayan de Oro.

The system-wide tournament brought together men’s volleyball teams from USTP campuses to promote sportsmanship, enhance athletic skills, and prepare student-athletes for future competitions, including the SCUAA National Games 2027.

The event commenced with a two-day training clinic conducted by Coach Alexander Adeva, Sports Development Officer of the Cagayan de Oro City Sports Commission and a National Technical Official for major volleyball tournaments. The clinic focused on strengthening the participants’ technical skills and game strategies ahead of the tournament.

Making its first appearance in the system-wide volleyball tournament, the USTP Panaon team competed with an eight-player roster due to financial and manpower constraints. Despite these challenges, the team advanced to the championship match with the support of the USTP Panaon faculty and staff.

USTP Panaon concluded the tournament as 1st Runner-Up, while Mr. Wyn Welsh Torres was named Best Middle Blocker in recognition of his outstanding performance throughout the competition.

The team’s performance marked a strong debut in the University-wide tournament and reflects USTP Panaon’s continued commitment to developing student-athletes and promoting excellence in sports.
