The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Balubal, Cagayan de Oro City (USTP Balubal) welcomed students for Academic Year 2026–2027 through its Week of Welcome (WOW) 2026, held from August 6 to 7, 2026. Organized by the Supreme Student Council (SSC), led by SSC President Jamerex C. Quinco, in coordination with Student Affairs Head Mark Anthony M. Bactong, the two-day activity brought together students, faculty members, and administrative personnel from the School of Agriculture (SCA), School of Information Technology (SCIT), and School of Teacher Education (SCTE).

The first day focused on introducing students to the Campus leadership, academic programs, services, and policies. Dr. Dennis Apuan, Acting Campus Director, joined the opening program with program chairpersons Ms. Bernalyn Grace Alvarez for Technology Education, Mr. Jumar Amores for Information Technology, and Ms. Jeraldine Leal-Giva for Agriculture.

The program also featured the Colors Marching, unity dances, and the presentation of the newly elected SSC officers. Orientation sessions provided students with information on health and guidance services, library policies, student internships, and the student manual. Sessions on barangay and fire safety and Gender and Development (GAD) were also conducted to promote awareness of student welfare, safety, and responsible campus participation.

On the second day, students participated in a motorcade and student parade, followed by the Lakip Breakout Sessions, which provided opportunities to learn about and engage with campus organizations. The afternoon featured Pride and Spirit activities facilitated by FAESO under the banner “Sailing with Pride, Blazing with Spirit,” where students represented their respective academic units through presentation chants and other activities.

WOW 2026 also incorporated activities related to the USTP Centennial Celebration, including basketball, volleyball, and Mobile Legends competitions for faculty and staff. The activities promoted physical well-being, teamwork, and camaraderie and concluded with an awarding ceremony.

Through Week of Welcome 2026, USTP Balubal provided students with opportunities to become familiar with academic programs, University services, student organizations, and campus policies as they began the new academic year. The two-day program also promoted student participation, well-being, safety, and engagement within the USTP Balubal community.
