USTP CDO wins 2nd Runner-up in Mr. & Ms. PASUC 2024

Ms. Gwyneth Jemimah Chan, a beacon of beauty and brains from Region 10, has emerged as the 2nd Runner-up in the prestigious 2024 Mr. and Ms. PASUC pageant. Her triumph in the 2024 Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges National Culture and the Arts Festival (2024 PASUC NCAF) is a testament to her talent and dedication. The pageant was one of the highlights of the three-day festival, held from April 23 to 25, 2024, at the Philippine Normal University (PNU).

Ms. Chan, a second-year chemistry student from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro (USTP CDO), was guided and supported by the Arts and Culture (ArCu) Division coaches, Mr. Marc John Bacayo, assisted by Mr. Chris John Capayas, and Mr. Ruben Niño Balane for her talent presentation. Her success is a testament to the collaborative spirit and dedication of the University. She also holds several other titles, including Ms. MASTS 2023, which led her to represent Ms. PASUC 2024. She is also the reigning Ms. Gingoog 2023 and Ms. Kuyamis 2024 2nd Runner-up, highlighting her consistent excellence.

Representatives from Region 11 were crowned Mr. and Ms. PASUC 2024, while the male representative from Region 4  and the female representative from Region 12 were crowned the 1st Runner-up. 

USTP CDO’s participation in the 2024 PASUC NCAF was not limited to the beauty pageant. The university also made its mark in other competitions, including Vocal Duet and Charcoal Rendering. Ms. Sweetchell Gica, a fourth-year Manufacturing Engineering student, and Ms. Mar Jan Nicole Bombeo, a third-year Information Technology student, represented the University in the Vocal Duet category. Meanwhile, a first-year Architecture student, Mr. Mark Nino R. Pamutongan, showcased his artistic skills in Charcoal Rendering.

The 2024 PASUC NCAF was a vibrant celebration of our diverse cultural heritage, featuring competitions on visual arts, dance, music, and theater arts. The theme for this year’s festival, Bidlisiw: Paghilom, Pagbangon, at Pagsulong, resonated with the spirit of unity and progress, reflecting the shared values of our diverse community.
