USTP Claveria clinches championship in USTP system-wide men's volleyball tournament

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) Men’s Volleyball Team emerged as champion in the 2026 USTP System-wide Sports Training and Tournament for Volleyball held from July 6 to 9, 2026, at the USTP Cagayan de Oro.
Competing against teams from across the USTP System, the USTP Claveria squad completed the tournament with an unbeaten record, securing the championship through consistent teamwork and disciplined play.
The team’s strong performance was highlighted by four individual awards:
- Most Valuable Player – Mark Andrew J. Bahian (BTHM-4)
- Best Setter – Dave Andrew Ylaya (BTHM-1)
- Best Opposite Spiker – Jaymark A. Fabela (BTHM-3)
- Best Libero – Jones Dave Y. Pante (BSEnE-4)
The championship team was composed of Lessly Rhyme A. Inchoco (BSA-2), Ace Novy R. Garcia (BSA-2), Humbert Labasan (BSA-3), Jhon Eric M. Bautista (BSA-4), Dave Andrew Ylaya (BTHM-1), Christian Daryl Vanguardia (BTHM-1), Alrenzharvy P. Ucat (BTHM-2), Jaymark A. Fabela (BTHM-3), Mark Andrew J. Bahian (BTHM-4), Reynelle L. Jalinon (BTLED-1), John Roel B. Ando (BSAF-2), Sanny G. Sumaylo (BSIT-2), John Rian Itum (BSIT-2), Van Harold C. Quinto (BSIT-3), Biengel B. Balbutin (BSHM-2), and Jones Dave Y. Pante (BSEnE-4).
The team was recognized during USTP Claveria’s Monday Convocation on July 13, where the championship title and individual awardees were acknowledged for their achievements.
On behalf of the players and coaching staff, the team expressed its appreciation to the USTP Claveria administration, particularly the Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, and the Sports Director, for their continued support of the University’s athletics program.
The championship marks another milestone for USTP Claveria in collegiate sports and highlights the University’s commitment to developing student-athletes who excel in both academics and athletics.
