Last October 18, 2022, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) in Claveria, Misamis Oriental conducted a one-day life-saving act through a bloodletting activity, an event which once again opened to all faculty, students, and staff since the pandemic struck in 2020.

The event was held at the USTP Claveria Campus Student Lounge and conducted in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross – Northern Mindanao Chapter, headed by Dr. Asley Kate L. Doong.

Ms. Rogie Medel P. Nillama, RN, USTP Claveria Campus Nurse, shared that the activity was held to address the growing need for blood, particularly for patients with leukemia and those who have natural illnesses or have been involved in accidents. She also stressed on the rising cases of dengue in the area.

A total of seventy (70) bags were collected by the Philippine Red Cross, which will be utilized for blood service facilities. Qualified bag donors received a donor’s card, small tokens, and a heartfelt thank you from the organizers.
