The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria), conducted a simultaneous campus-wide Clean-Up Drive on May 14, 2026, as part of its preparation and maintenance efforts for the forthcoming Commencement Exercises 2026. The activity mobilized non-graduating students from various colleges and student organizations who voluntarily participated in cleaning and maintaining different areas within the university premises to ensure a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for the upcoming graduation ceremonies.

Early in the morning, students were assigned to designated areas across the campus, including pathways, open grounds, drainage systems, classrooms, gardens, and other common spaces requiring immediate cleaning and maintenance. Equipped with cleaning materials and tools, participants worked collectively to remove litter, clear overgrown areas, and improve the overall appearance of the campus. University officials emphasized the importance of the clean-up drive not only as part of the university’s physical preparation for Commencement Exercises 2026 but also as an opportunity to instill among students the values of volunteerism, cooperation, environmental awareness, and shared responsibility.

Simultaneously, fourth-year graduating students of Batch 2025–2026 participated in the tree-growing activity at the Agroforestry Complex. The graduating students assembled at the research office at 7:00 a.m. before proceeding to the designated planting area, where they planted tree seedlings as part of the university’s environmental sustainability initiatives.

While graduating students contributed through reforestation efforts, non-graduating students focused on campus maintenance and beautification, reflecting the collective participation of the university community in ensuring the success of major institutional activities.

Faculty members, staff, and student leaders also assisted in supervising and facilitating the clean-up operations to ensure proper coordination and smooth implementation of the activity. Through teamwork and active participation, students demonstrated their commitment to maintaining a clean and conducive academic environment for fellow learners, university personnel, guests, alumni, and families expected to attend the graduation ceremonies.

According to university organizers, the clean-up drive also served as a reminder that environmental care and campus responsibility are shared duties of every member of the academic community. The initiative further strengthened the university’s advocacy for sustainability, cleanliness, and community engagement.

The simultaneous conduct of the clean-up drive and tree-growing activity showcased the spirit of solidarity and active citizenship among USTP Claveria students. Beyond preparing the campus for Commencement Exercises 2026, the activity highlighted the university’s continuing mission of developing socially responsible and environmentally conscious individuals who contribute positively to society.

As preparations for graduation continue, the university community remains united in ensuring that the campus reflects not only academic excellence but also environmental stewardship, discipline, and pride in public service.
