The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental (USTP Jasaan) celebrated its 52nd Commencement Exercises on June 16, 2026, at the Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras (DRER) Memorial Hall, USTP Cagayan de Oro, honoring 239 graduates from five academic programs. Carrying the theme, “USTP Toward a Century of Trailblazing Innovation for a Sustainable Global Future,” the ceremony marked a significant milestone for the graduating class as they concluded their academic journey and prepared to embark on new professional and personal endeavors.

The graduates represented the following degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Technology Communication Management (33), Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (26), Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology (44), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (54), and Bachelor of Science in Energy Systems and Management (82).

A total of 31 graduates earned Latin honors, including six Magna Cum Laude and 25 Cum Laude awardees, in recognition of their exemplary academic performance and dedication throughout their years of study.

Delivering the President’s Charge, USTP System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II inspired the graduates to pursue their aspirations with courage and determination.

“Your beginnings do not define your future. Your circumstances do not limit your potential, and no dream is too distant for those who have the faith to believe, the courage to persevere, and the determination to continue,” he emphasized.

The commencement address was delivered by Hon. Yevgeny Vicente B. Emano, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who highlighted the invaluable role of parents and guardians in the graduates’ success.

“If there is one or two persons that you should thank, you should thank your parents or those who gave you the opportunity to graduate today. Sa inyo mga ginikanan, saludo kayo ko and congratulations sa paglampos sa inyong mga anak,” he said.

In recognition of their outstanding academic achievement, the six Magna Cum Laude graduates received the Cong. Bambi Emano Excellence Award, which included a cash incentive of Php 10,000 and a promised employment opportunity in the office of the congressman. The awardees were Roxzan B. Signapan, Ma. Christine Joy P. Villamor, Vincent Emmanuel A. Zayas, Cristine B. Maghinay, Shaira Bhell Marie Ganzan, and Kristine Joy C. Go.

Representing the graduating class, Magna Cum Laude graduate Roxzan B. Signapan of the Bachelor of Science in Technology Communication Management delivered the valedictory address, encouraging her fellow graduates to recognize their worth beyond academic distinctions.

“Our worth has never been determined by awards, rankings, or how closely our paths resemble someone else’s. Our worth is found in our resilience, determination, and in our willingness to rise every time life asks us to begin again,” she said.

The ceremony celebrated not only academic excellence but also perseverance, resilience, and the collective support of families, mentors, and the university community. As they join the growing network of USTP alumni, the Class of 2026 carries forward the institution’s commitment to innovation, leadership, and service toward building a sustainable global future.

USTP Jasaan extends its warmest congratulations to the graduates and wishes them continued success as they pursue meaningful careers and contribute positively to their communities and the nation.
