USTP Jasaan celebrates ASEAN Month 2026 through cultural and academic activities

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental (USTP Jasaan) celebrated ASEAN Month 2026 on August 24, 2026, at the Campus Covered Court, bringing together students, faculty members, and staff for activities promoting cultural awareness and understanding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Carrying the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” the celebration was spearheaded by the General Education Unit, through its Coordinator, Ms. Mary C. Javier, MAEd. The activity provided the USTP Jasaan community with opportunities to learn about the cultures of Southeast Asia and ASEAN’s role in promoting regional cooperation.
Parade of ASEAN-inspired attire
The celebration featured a Parade of ASEAN-Inspired Attire, where faculty members, staff, and students presented clothing inspired by the cultures and traditions of ASEAN member states.
In the Faculty and Staff Category, the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME) Department placed first, followed by Information Technology (IT) in second place and the General Education Unit in third.
For the Male Student Category, Technology Communication Management (TCM) placed first, followed by IT and NAME in second and third places, respectively. In the Female Student Category, TCM also placed first, followed by NAME in second and IT in third.
ASEAN Quiz Bowl 2026
The program also featured the ASEAN Quiz Bowl 2026, where teams from different academic programs tested their knowledge of ASEAN history, member states, principles, objectives, achievements, and regional cooperation.
The Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET) team emerged as champion, while IT and NAME finished as first and second runners-up, respectively.
The activity concluded with the recognition of competition winners and special awardees. Through the celebration, USTP Jasaan provided the Campus community with an opportunity to strengthen awareness of ASEAN cultures, regional cooperation, and the shared role of its member states in advancing regional development.
As the Philippines serves as ASEAN Chair in 2026, USTP Jasaan’s observance of ASEAN Month supports greater understanding of the country’s role in the regional community and encourages students and personnel to appreciate cooperation, cultural diversity, and shared responsibility across Southeast Asia.
