USTP Oroquieta advances IT education through industry immersion with Nexen

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) continues to advance the professional competencies of its faculty through industry engagement, as Mr. Markony Undag and Mr. Jessie Bitantos, faculty members of the BSIT Program, completed the Faculty Industry Immersion Program at Nexen Innovation Technologies in Talic, Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental, from June 15 to July 24, 2026. The immersion was conducted to provide faculty members with hands-on exposure to current Information Technology practices.
The participants gained practical experience in industry-standard IT processes, workplace practices, and professional standards throughout the six-week immersion. The program enabled them to bridge academic knowledge with real-world applications, equipping them with insights and competencies that can be integrated into classroom instruction and laboratory activities to better prepare students for the demands of the rapidly evolving technology sector.
The immersion also strengthened the partnership between USTP Oroquieta and Nexen Innovation Technologies, fostering stronger collaboration between the University and the local IT industry. Through this engagement, the faculty members enhanced their professional development while contributing to the alignment of the BSIT curriculum with current industry needs and expectations, ultimately supporting the delivery of more relevant and industry-responsive education.
