USTP Oroquieta celebrates 35th Commencement Exercises, honors 402 graduates

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) celebrated the achievements of 402 graduates during its 35th Commencement Exercises held on June 20, 2026, at the ASENSO Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center in Oroquieta City.

Carrying the theme, “USTP Toward a Century of Trailblazing Innovation for a Sustainable Global Future,” the ceremony marked the culmination of the graduates’ academic journey and formally welcomed them into the growing community of USTP alumni.

The Class of 2026 comprised 202 graduates from the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), 92 from the Bachelor of Food Processing Technology (BFPT), 35 from the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) major in Home Economics, 39 from BTLED major in Industrial Arts, and 34 from BTLED major in Information and Communication Technology.

The candidates for graduation were formally presented by Acting Campus Director Dr. Glorimer L. Clarin. Upon the recommendation of the Campus Director, USTP System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II conferred the degrees and delivered the President’s Charge, encouraging the graduates to uphold the University’s legacy of innovation by applying their knowledge and skills to develop sustainable solutions and contribute meaningfully to society.

The University also recognized graduates who demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. Five graduates earned the distinction of Magna Cum Laude:

  • Quenie Clarabal – Bachelor of Science in Information Technology
  • Jireh Claire V. Sombol – Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education, major in Home Economics
  • Annjeret Elpides – Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education, major in Information and Communication Technology
  • Franzei Bel M. Jangad – Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education, major in Home Economics
  • James T. Lanzaderas – Bachelor of Science in Information Technology


The University likewise recognized 47 Cum Laude graduates. Qualified honor graduates also received their Civil Service Eligibility certificates from Civil Service Commission Region X Director IV Noemi Rabe-Torres.

Serving as the commencement speaker, Department of Trade and Industry Misamis Occidental Provincial Director Luz G. Galda encouraged the graduates to become innovative, ethical, and socially responsible professionals who will help drive progress in their respective communities and industries.

The ceremony concluded with the Valedictory Address, the Graduates’ Pledge, the Alumni Pledge, and the singing of the USTP Hymn, formally welcoming the Class of 2026 into the USTP alumni community.

As they begin the next chapter of their lives, the 402 graduates carry with them the knowledge, technical competencies, and values nurtured by the University. Their achievements reflect USTP Oroquieta’s continuing commitment to producing globally competitive, values-driven professionals equipped to contribute to nation-building through science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
