The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) deployed 122 third-year Bachelor of Food Processing Technology (BFPT) students to various manufacturing industries across Northern Mindanao from July 15 to 19, 2026, as part of the University’s commitment to providing industry-based learning experiences.
The internship deployment forms part of the BFPT Program’s experiential learning component, allowing students to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom and laboratory to actual food manufacturing operations while strengthening their professional competencies and industry readiness.
The deployment was made possible through the support of USTP Oroquieta’s Host Training Establishments (HTEs), including Francisca’s Food Products, Delta Business Ventures, Jimenez Cacao Growers Association, Inc., OroqCoco Cooperative, Vima’s Agricultural Learning Center Inc., Nelly Coffee and Tablea, Amiyas Blend, BManny Partners Incorporated, Third Millennium Oil Mills Inc., and Summer Juice Manufacturing. These partner industries continue to provide students with valuable workplace learning opportunities that complement their academic training.
Prior to deployment, the BFPT Program conducted orientation sessions, coordinated with partner establishments, processed internship requirements, and completed the necessary documentation in accordance with University internship policies to ensure students were adequately prepared for their industry immersion.
Throughout the internship, students will undergo supervised training in food processing operations, quality assurance and quality control, food safety and sanitation, production management, equipment operation, product development, and other essential areas of food manufacturing. The training is expected to strengthen their technical competencies, professional work ethics, critical thinking, and practical skills required in the food processing industry.
