The Department of Technology and Livelihood Education (DTLE) of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta), hosted the 2nd Pinning Ceremony with the theme USTP: Capacitating Pre-Service Education for Sustainable Future on February 23, 2024, at the USTP Oroquieta Covered Court.

The pinning ceremony significantly represents the pre-service teachers’ passage of the pivotal role as torchbearers of knowledge. The event started with a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Edgar S. Canama, who stressed the humanitarian purpose of radiating love through service in the community. DTLE chairperson Mr. Bernardo T. Crisologo, MTTE, reminded the interns that they are the bearers of the USTP mission and vision. He emphasized that the pin symbolizes the recognition and acknowledgment of their responsibilities and profound commitment to the field of teaching as they uphold the highest standard of integrity, professionalism, and dedication.

Moreover, the Head of Academic Affairs, Mr. Pelmar M. Acosta, MSciEd, shared a profound message to the interns to live up to the high standards and excellence set by the University.

One of the highlights of the event was the message of the guest speaker, Ms. Gigi O. Ricafort, the Summer English Intensive Curriculum Coordinator and Head of Kindergarten and Primary School in Vietnam, Australia International School—Sala Mega Campus. She shared insights from her personal experiences in teaching, emphasizing the importance of being compassionate, committed, and responsible as future educators, wherever they are.

The activity marked a special milestone for the 4th year BTLEd students, celebrated with their parents, the USTP TLE Department, and the USTP Oroquieta Administration.

The event concluded with a song by the students, signifying their gratitude to their parents and the college that nurtured them to become great individuals throughout the years.
