The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) joined the citywide celebration of the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence on June 12, 2026, at the Oroquieta City Plaza, Misamis Occidental. The event gathered local government officials, employees from various government agencies, educational institutions, and community members to honor the country’s independence and reflect on this year’s theme, “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan.”
The observance aimed to commemorate the heroism and sacrifices of Filipino patriots who fought for the country’s freedom while reminding citizens that true independence entails responsibility, respect for the law, promotion of peace and order, and commitment to nation-building.
Serving as the Guest of Honor and Speaker was Police Colonel Marlon Quimno, who emphasized the significance of freedom, the lessons of history, and the collective responsibility of Filipinos in shaping the nation’s future. In his message, he highlighted the connection between the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers and the continuing duty of citizens to uphold patriotism, unity, and public service.
Through its participation, USTP Oroquieta reaffirmed its support for national commemorations and its commitment to fostering patriotism and civic responsibility among its employees and the wider community.
