USTP Panaon IT students highlight innovation in IT Days 2026

The League of Information Technologists (LIT), a department organization of the Department of Information Technology at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines  in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon), successfully held IT Days 2026 from March 24 to 26, 2026 under the theme “Panagtambayayong: Technology for Collective Good and Progress.” The three-day event aimed to encourage student participation in technology-driven competitions, enhance technical skills, and foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among students.

The event commenced on March 24 with an opening ceremony and the first Tech’s Got Talent, where each year’s level showcased unique talents, highlighting creativity alongside technical proficiency. The following day featured the Technical Skills Competition, including the Tech for Community Hackathon, Typing Master, and Debugging Challenge: “Fix the Glitch”, as well as the search for the second Mister and Miss IT 2026 in the evening. Former IT instructor Guiller A. Cabatuan served as the guest speaker, engaging students with insights on innovation and professional development in the field of information technology. A free dinner was provided to students, faculty, and staff during the opening day.

On the final day, students participated in Esports Mobile Legends, Digital Poster Making, and Basic Router & Switch Configuration competitions. The event concluded with the annual Mr. IT False Gay 2026, a lighthearted activity for entertainment, followed by a raffle draw for all students and participants.



First-year student Jeff Lawrence Menojardin shared his experience, saying, “Participating in IT Days was exciting. I learned a lot from the competitions, and it was great to meet and work with students from other year levels.” Another first-year participant, Rona Mae Olarte, added, “I felt encouraged to improve my skills and try new challenges. The event made technology fun and interactive.”

 

IT Days 2026 highlighted the importance of collective development through technology-driven initiatives and provided a platform for students to enhance their abilities, promote inclusivity, and foster collaboration within the USTP Panaon IT community.
