USTP Panaon showcases student innovation and creativity at IP Day 2026

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon), participated in the IP Day 2026 celebration on August 18, 2026, at the Dr Ricardo E. Rotoras (DRER) Memorial Hall, USTP Cagayan de Oro. Carrying the theme “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate! The event provided students and faculty members with opportunities to demonstrate their creativity, innovation, and awareness of intellectual property (IP) through various competitions.

Representing USTP Panaon in “IPlympics: The Amazing Race for Innovation” were students Mary Cris B. Doldolia, Kelly Amber Martir, and Danry Mark B. Cosido, under the guidance of faculty coach Jan James G. Arañas. The team participated in challenges that tested their teamwork, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

The same team also joined “Innovate to Dominate: The IP Sports Design Challenge”, with Arañas serving as faculty coach and co-creator. The competition provided an opportunity to apply design thinking and develop an

Meanwhile, education students Denver Jake D. Manlangit and Joemhar H. Herdia, together with IT student Jeff Lawrence P. Menojardine, participated in the short film competition “Beyond the Game: Stories of Innovation”, with Arañas as faculty coach and co-creator. Their entry combined storytelling, digital technology, and interdisciplinary collaboration in producing a creative video output.

Through its participation in IP Day 2026, USTP Panaon provided students with experiential learning opportunities to apply their academic knowledge and technical skills beyond the classroom. The activity also supported the campus’ efforts to promote intellectual property awareness, faculty-student collaboration, and innovation.
