The Master of Science in Mathematics Education (MS Math Ed) is a graduate program designed to link the gaps on mathematics learning and performance among Elementary, Secondary and Tertiary Education by enriching mathematics teachers’ quality through excellence in content, pedagogy, and research and extension. This revised masters program for mathematics education is offered through three specialized strands namely: the Elementary Mathematics Education strand, Secondary Mathematics Education strand, and the Tertiary Mathematics Education strand. All three strands were specifically engineered to combine graduate-level study of pure mathematics, and mathematics education. Furthermore, the program aimed to hone mathematics teachers to have a high level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, mold a skillful teacher-leader in conducting` and disseminating studies on pedagogical innovations and interdisciplinary research, implement various extension activities that promote mathematical proficiency and develop technopreneurial skills, and develop a self-reliant, self-motivated and self-directed teachers to pursue life-long learning.

Upon graduating in the program, the students shall be able to:

a.) exhibit higher level of teaching competence in mathematics showing advanced knowledge of content and pedagogy

b.) articulate mastery of the foundation of education in philosophical, socio-cultural, historical, psychological, and political contexts

c.) assess and evaluate the mathematics curricula

d.) collaborate with other researchers in conducting a study on pedagogical innovations and interdisciplinary research to generate technological tools in the field of mathematics education with skills in paper presentation and publication of outputs in regional/national/international level

e.) demonstrate high level of work performance equipped with communication skills, emotional intelligence, intra/interpersonal skills that extends in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams with professional, social, and ethical responsibility

f.) initiate various extension activities that promote mathematical proficiency and technopreneural skills

g.) direct oneself to life-long learning by pursuing doctoral education and continuous trainings
